Trip Summary & Highlights

The Naar Phu Valley Trek combined with Tilicho Lake and the Mesokanto La Pass is a premier off-the-beaten-path experience in Nepal. This 22-day Nar Phu Valley trek itinerary takes you through restricted, ancient Tibetan-style villages and culminates at one of the world’s highest lakes. Unlike the busier Annapurna Circuit, the Naar Phu Valley remains a sanctuary of raw wilderness and deep-rooted Bon and Buddhist traditions.

The journey starts in the lush Marshyangdi valley before branching into the narrow, dramatic gorges leading to Phu Village and Naar Village. After crossing the high Kang La Pass (5,306m), you rejoin the main trail toward Manang, heading further into the alpine isolation of Tilicho Lake. The final challenge is the technical Mesokanto Pass (5,121m), which rewards trekkers with a steep descent into the barren, wind-swept landscapes of Mustang and the apple orchards of Jomsom.

Trip Highlights

  • Cultural Isolation: Explore the restricted Naar Phu Valley, home to ancient stone villages and centuries-old monasteries like Tashi Lhakhang.
  • High Mountain Passes: Conquer two major passes: the Kang La Pass (5,306m) and the adventurous Mesokanto Pass (5,121m).
  • Tilicho Lake (4,919m): Stand before the breathtaking turquoise waters of one of the highest lakes on Earth, nestled against the Great Barrier.
  • Dramatic Scenery: Witness a kaleidoscope of landscapes, from lush sub-tropical forests to the high-altitude deserts of Mustang.
  • Peak Vistas: Enjoy up-close views of Annapurna II, III, IV, Gangapurna, Tilicho Peak, and the Dhaulagiri massif.
