Trip Summary & Highlights
Discover the hidden gems of the Himalayas with the Manaslu Tsum Valley Trek, a journey that combines the rugged high-altitude challenge of the Manaslu Circuit with the spiritual serenity of the “Hidden Valley of Happiness.” This trek offers a deep dive into ancient Tibetan Buddhist culture, set against the backdrop of the world’s eighth-highest mountain.
The Manaslu Tsum Valley Trek is a comprehensive 22 to 24-day adventure that traverses the remote northern reaches of the Gorkha district. This trek is unique because it combines two distinct experiences: the culturally secluded Tsum Valley, which was only opened to tourists in 2008, and the classic Manaslu Trek, culminating in the crossing of the Larkya La Pass (5,106m).
The Manaslu Tsum Valley trek itinerary typically begins at Machha Khola and follows the Budhi Gandaki River. You will explore the “lower” Tsum region before ascending to the “upper” valley, home to the ancient Mu Gompa. After soaking in the spiritual vibes of Tsum, you rejoin the main Manaslu trail to tackle the glacial moraines of the Larkya La, eventually descending into the lush Marsyangdi Valley.
